IMIftekhar MahmudGeneral & Laparoscopic Surgery

One Tuesday · 06:40 to 22:40 · Dhanmondi

A life, not a
list of qualifications.

I operate at Dhanmondi four days a week and sit in clinic two. This is an ordinary Tuesday, photographed from the moment I arrive to the moment I leave, because you should know what the person cutting is actually doing all day.

Eight frames, in the order they happened.

Move across them, or leave them alone and they turn over by themselves. Click any one to read it.

What I treat

General surgery, and the things people put off for years.

01

Gallbladder & bile duct

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, including the difficult and the previously inflamed.

02

Hernia

Inguinal, umbilical, incisional and recurrent — open or keyhole, decided with you.

03

Appendix

Emergency and interval appendicectomy, keyhole as the default.

04

Colorectal

Colonoscopy, polypectomy, bowel resection and stoma formation and reversal.

05

Anorectal

Piles, fissure, fistula and pilonidal disease — the things people put off for years.

06

Thyroid & breast

Lumps, cysts and cancers, worked up with imaging and needle before anything is planned.

07

Abdominal emergencies

Obstruction, perforation and acute abdomen, on call one week in four.

08

Second opinions

Bring the scan and the earlier report. Sometimes the answer is not to operate.
