A flat in one of our buildings costs Tk 5,800 to Tk 7,400 a month in service charge, and the figure is fixed for the first two years after handover. It pays for two lifts and their yearly service contract, diesel for the generator, two guards on a twelve-hour shift each, the water pump, the lights in the lobby and the stairs, and cleaning six days a week.
It does not pay for your own gas, water or power meter, and it does not pay for anything inside your front door. We print the split every month and pin it by the lift. If the generator ran for nine hours in June, the bill says nine hours.
