Practice, early morning
Most adults who come to me start by apologising for their voice. They are usually wrong about it. A voice that has never been trained is not a bad voice, it is an untrained one, and that is a different problem with a known answer.
I teach the meaning of the song first, then the notes. Every student sings in front of the others by the end of the second month.
